Absolutely brilliant to have achieved this level of discipline. The interesting thing with disciplines such as these is what it does to us. The question I see is ‘what will happen to ME if I do this?’ This is a piece if research in itself. The external product becomes a by-product. Does this make sense.
Thank you Clare. You are such a wise owl - that question ‘what will happen to me?’ Yes - it’s almost too cerebral for me but I think the grind of the daily commitment wore me down at times. This exercise will not be repeated but painting palms will always carry on 🌴🙏🩵
They are beautiful though…especially the portals. I’m like you, can’t resist a peek through tiny doorways into hidden courtyards. I think that’s my dream, to have a house with a lush, colourful inner courtyard and a tiny nondescript door in from the street. Also, with you on the whole ‘100 days’. It’s so hard to continue once the muse wants to explore different things, but having said I will I will.
Thank you for your kind comments Izzy. I feel total relief having finished. Imposing 100 days of painting onto a practice is not a good thing - it becomes the practice for that time and disrupts true flow for sure. With each individual painting I felt that I was generally within. Good space when making that painting but I don’t need this kind of challenge to test my motivation ever again 🙏🩵

I meant within a good space 🩵

Congratulations Mary. Such beautiful works, just like a burst of fireworks, so colourful,
Thank you Sally. The palms often remind me of fireworks too! I’ve even named some of my palm paintings in the past after fireworks.
These are so beautiful, Mary! I’m especially taken by the portals 💗 Love how each piece has its own energy!
Thank you Juliette. Portals and windows are an ongoing obsession and I love the scope they give for imagining tiny worlds beyond what can be seen 🙏🩵
